Before planning activities that address bullying, gather information about the current situation at your school. Create a confidential survey for the students to fill out. Write questions that let you see the extent of the problem, such as how many times has a student been bullied and whether a student has missed school because of bullying. Be sure to ask where the bullying is taking place. Assure the youngsters that their names won’t be put on their surveys. Give “Be A Buddy, Not A Bully” Ribbons to all who turn in a completed survey. Also enter them into drawings for “Be A Buddy, Not A Bully” Dog Tags.
